Dear St. Patrick Family,
I am writing this letter to inform you that I will be leaving my position as Fine Arts Director, effective Monday, April 30th. I will be leaving in order to take a new job which starts May 1st. The 10 years I have spent teaching your children have been the most rewarding thing in my life! I have grown professionally and personally thanks to these wonderful students. In many ways, my students have taught me the true meaning of compassion, caring, understanding, cooperation, patience, perseverance and integrity.
It has been an honor to teach your children and their interactive interest in the class made the days and years fly by. I have had a special bond with each student that has passed through my music room. I am proud to say that our programs which consist of General Music, Choir, Guitar, Piano, Violin, Trumpet, Cello, Clarinet, Mariachi, Art and Theater have flourished within our school and is considered one of the strongest within the Diocese.
There are so many beautiful memories that we have made! We have had the privilege of uniting Catholic schools together and forming the first ever All-star Band which debuted at the First Light Thanksgiving Parade. I also had the honor of forming a Choir Recital with all our schools to show the wonderful talent within our students. This year we put together the FIRST-EVER IRISH IDOL singing competition with all of our catholic schools. Another fond memory is putting our Spring Stage Production and seeing the success of “Tale of the Magic Lamp” “Wonderland” and soon to be “The Circle of Life.” And of course, our Mariachi Campanitas de San Patricio. I am very proud of what they have accomplished. I have worked with wonderful students within the last 10 years and I have seen them grow from nervous/shy performers, to wonderful and talented musicians.
Thank you parents, students, and faculty, for all the wonderful support and love you have given me. You made me feel welcomed and feel apart this big beautiful family. I LOVE my St. Patrick Family!
I will miss all of your children and wish you all the best. If you need to contact me, please email me directly at [email protected]
Sincerely Yours,
R. Julian Salcido

Students’ lives can be enriched by the enjoyment and meaning that the unique qualities of music can present them. Critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques, developed from learning music, can transfer to a variety of life experiences. Self discipline, creativity, and inventiveness fostered through music benefits not only students, but society. At St. Patrick Elementary, students participate in organized musical activities; they learn cooperation and awareness of their role in their community and their society. This awareness allows students to appreciate not only their culture, but also the culture of others in their world. In addition to general music education, the music department offers opportunities to participate in performances where students play a variety of instruments and sing as an ensemble.
Music is an important part of life at St. Patrick and most of all....it's fun!

The Music of Life
Music has the power,
to help and to heal,
It's truly amazing,
how it makes us feel.
It brings us hope,
and a positive mind.
Motivates us,
to be friendly and kind.
Music offers messages,
about others and earth,
Guides us with purpose,
assures that we're worth.
A single song,
countless hearts it may touch,
Will help us love others,
so very much.
Music is here,
to entertain and inspire,
Has the potential,
to ignite our inner fire.
Together with music,
we can create good,
We have what it takes,
we definitely should.
